Winter - Wrestling

Wrestling is for students who enjoy one-on-one competition as part of a larger team where teammates encourage and support one another to work hard and develop personal skills to become productive citizens in their communities. Wrestling is a tough physical sport that builds character, confidence, pride, perseverance, and sportsmanship. In addition to learning and improving your wrestling skills, student athletes will also learn about the importance of a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Our mission is to ensure that all our wrestlers have a positive interscholastic experience in a program where they learn the true meaning behind our core values of Integrity first, Team before Self, and Excellence in all they do. As part of the CVHS wrestling team student athletes will be expected to maintain high levels of academic achievement throughout the season. Student athletes will develop teachable spirits, a sincere sense of dedication, commitment, and responsibility towards the success of the Team. The safety and well-being of all student athletes in the program take precedence over anything we do as coaches and parents.

The season is from November to February. Wrestlers provide their own shoes and headgear. Spirit packs may be purchased for approximately $20.00 that includes their practice uniform, team shirt and shorts. Talk to the coach if this is a problem.

The wrestling program is dependent on fundraising events that include two major tournaments that we host here at CVHS. We kindly request parents and athletes to work shifts in various capacities during these two tournaments and other off-season fundraising efforts.

Wrestling is a no-cut sport and all student are welcome to join. Our only requirement is to show-up prepared to work hard every day, embrace our team core values, and be worthy ambassadors for the wrestling program and Central Valley High School.

Inland Empire Wrestling Tournament

Central Valley High School hosts two annual wrestling tournaments each winter, the Inland Empire and the Tri-County.

The Inland Empire Tournament occurs the second Friday and Saturday of December each year and is traditionally the second largest wrestling tournament held in the Spokane area each winter. The Inland Empire is a varsity tournament with teams from four different states competing.

The Tri-County Tournament is a one day event held over Winter Break and is a combined tournament where schools from the 1A and B classifications bring their varsity wrestlers and the 3A and 4A schools send their top non-varsity wrestlers.
